Nobody Left. The Relationship Still Ended.

The cleanest endings come with a door, a final sentence, and somebody walking through it. They hurt, but at least the pain has an address. You know what ended, when it ended, and which box to place the photographs in when you are ready to lie to yourself about being finished with them.

The harder endings are quieter. Nobody leaves. Nobody declares anything over. Two people keep appearing in each other’s lives while the relationship that once existed between them slowly stops showing up.
